Old Stones, New Life — Rachel & Renee's Heirloom Earclimbers
Some of the most meaningful pieces we make don't begin with a new stone. They begin with an old one—pulled from a drawer, unset from a forgotten ring, rescued from jewelry that no longer fits the person wearing it.
Rachel came to us with heirloom stones she loved but wasn't wearing. Rather than let them sit, she wanted them recycled—metal credit and all—into something she'd reach for every day. What she had in mind were earclimbers. What she ended up with was something that caught her sister-in-law's attention immediately.
What Is an Earclimber?
An earclimber—also known as an ear crawler—is a modern earring designed to appear as though it's crawling up the earlobe, creating the look of multiple piercings from a single hole. A long hook on the back is inserted into the earlobe and rotated upward, allowing the stones to arc gracefully along the ear. The effect is sleek, architectural, and decidedly edgy—without the commitment of additional piercings.
Rachel's Earclimbers: Diamonds, Sapphires & Yellow Gold
Rachel's heirloom collection included both diamonds and deep blue sapphires, and she wanted every stone to find its place. We designed a triple-row earclimber in 14k yellow gold, anchoring the design with her larger diamonds and weaving in smaller white diamonds and her blue sapphires throughout. The sapphires punctuate the rows like accents of ink—rich, saturated, and unexpected against the warmth of the gold.
The earclimber format is inherently edgy, but Rachel's stones bring it back to something timeless. The combination of classic white diamonds and deep blue sapphires in yellow gold is unabashedly glamorous—ear candy with genuine elegance.
Renee's Earclimbers: Diamonds & White Gold
When Rachel's sister-in-law Renee heard about the project, she wanted one of her own. She sent in her heirloom jewelry to be recycled and contributed her white diamonds, and we created her version in a single row in 14k white gold. Clean, brilliant, and quietly striking—a line of diamonds that climbs the ear with cool, effortless precision.
The Result
Two women, two heirloom collections, two completely distinct earclimbers—connected by the same idea: that stones this good deserve to be worn. Both pieces give treasured diamonds a new context, a new energy, and a way to be part of everyday life again rather than sitting forgotten in a jewelry box.
Have Heirloom Stones You're Not Wearing?
We work with heirloom stones regularly—repurposing diamonds, sapphires, and other gems from old jewelry into pieces that fit who you are today. The metal credit from your existing pieces can even go toward the cost of the new design.
