At Bohemi jewelry in Boulder, CO, we use high quality metals for our custom jewelry, offering platinum and 14k/18k/22k gold. We take any scrap metal-be it chains, old jewelry/broken jewelry/heirlooms in karat gold, silver, and platinum and melt it down to give you a credit that can be used towards your new custom jewelry. This is a great way to reduce custom costs!

How Custom Jewelry Works
Once you’ve reached out to us we’ll schedule a video, telephone, email or in-person consult to chat about your scope, timeline, budget etc for your custom jewelry project.
If you decide to move forward with your custom jewelry project, we charge a design fee that covers 3-4 unique design directions, all the revisions to get to the final design, the CAD design and the final rendering.
Once the final design and rendering has been approved by you we put the project into production. We require half down once the project enters production.
Your design is then cast, the stones are set and the piece goes into final finishing. Once your project is finished, the remaining balance is paid and we can either ship it to you, or you can pick it up in our Boulder, Colorado store.
Investment
The average cost of a custom engagement ring is 3k to 6k. It really depends on stones, metal and intricacy of design (i.e labor). We will take any karat gold, platinum or silver scraps, jewelry, chain, dental crowns, and flatware to refine for you and use that refining credit towards your custom piece.
We can also give you an estimate to buy back old diamonds and we will certainly use heirloom stones in a new engagement ring.
Past Custom Jewelry Designs
Design to completion
That being said, we have made custom jewelry pieces in as short as 4 weeks, so don’t be discouraged if you are under a tight timeline, but rush fees may apply.
For custom engagement bands, heirloom redesigns or intricate wedding bands it's good to start thinking 6 months in advance if you have a deadline. Depending on the complexity of the design, or the rarity of stones, some projects can take up to 6 months to complete. It’s always better to have your pieces well before it's time for your event.
Please note that we do not recommend using stones that are under a 7.5 on the Mohs hardness scale in engagement or wedding bands due to the wear and tear these rings endure.
