Andréa's Pear Diamond Wave Ring — Built to Be Worn
The most beautiful ring in the world means nothing if you never want to put it on.
Andréa is a talented jewelry designer and a longtime friend — we met in a wax casting class and promptly got in trouble for laughing too loudly. When she came to us to redo her engagement ring, the brief was refreshingly practical: she needed something light enough to forget she was wearing it.
The Brief
Andréa's original engagement ring was a genuinely extraordinary piece — an aquamarine in a bespoke Atelier Munsteiner cut, set in platinum. Stunning, but substantial. As someone who spends long hours working at a computer, she found herself increasingly aware of the weight on her hand. She wanted a ring she simply wouldn't feel.
In the meantime, she'd been wearing an east-west pear cubic zirconia wave ring — inexpensive, lightweight, and just right next to her husband's grandmother's channel set wedding band. That feeling was the target.
The Ring
We sourced a gorgeous pear lab diamond and set it east-west in a slender platinum wave setting — this time with a much lighter, slender profile than the original. A row of round diamonds lines the band, adding sparkle without adding weight. The result is a ring that moves with the hand rather than sitting heavily on it.
Her husband's grandmother's channel set wedding band got a re-polish at the same time, bringing it back to full brightness so the two pieces could sit together as a cohesive, sparkling set.
The Result
Andréa now has a set she reaches for without thinking — light on the hand, bright on the finger, and designed around how she actually lives. The wave silhouette she loved in that cheap CZ ring is now realized in platinum and diamonds, sitting perfectly against a newly polished heirloom band.
Sometimes the most meaningful upgrade isn't more — it's exactly right.
