Marion’s Ring Redesign: A Joyfully, Left-of-Center New Chapter
Every project feel special from the moment a client sits down— but some feel special from the moment we meet. Marion’s was one of those projects. She came into our Boulder jewelry studio with a rose-gold, high-profile engagement ring set with her beautiful oval diamond. It was lovely, but it didn’t feel like her anymore.
Marion is bright, hilarious, warm, and totally magnetic. She wanted a piece that reflected her personality: sparkling, fun, and always able to stand out in a crowd. Just all around more uniquely “Marion.” This is where our custom engagement ring redesign process truly shines.

Honoring What Matters: The Sentiment Behind her Original Diamond
At Bohemi, our approach to heirloom redesign focuses on preserving the history and feeling behind your original stones while giving them a fresh, updated life. With Marion, her diamond was, well, the center piece—the part she loved, and wanted to celebrate.
Marion knew she wanted asymmetry and something with curve and flow in the band. We explored metal colors, textures, and flow that would bring more personality to her ring. The goal was to maintain the emotional connection to her stone while designing a setting that felt aligned with her story today.
This is what we love most about repurposed diamond engagement rings: they honor your past while making space for who you’ve become.

The New Design: Sculptural, Modern, and Full of Motion
Marion’s reimagined ring quickly took shape as something bold, fluid, and unmistakably hers.
We set her diamond into a 14k yellow gold knife-edge wave ring, a silhouette that brings both movement and modernity to the design. The knife-edge detail adds crisp geometry, while the wave form softens it into a piece that feels alive.
The stone is now oriented East/West and secured in a lower profile, North/South half-bezel setting—a contemporary choice that protects the diamond, lowers the overall height, and makes the ring more wearable every day.
A buttery satin finish completes the piece, giving the gold a soft glow that allows every sculptural contour to pop.
If you’re looking for an alternative engagement ring that bridges timeless and unexpected, this redesign is a perfect example.

Why Redesigning Your Engagement Ring Matters
Redesigning a ring is about more than aesthetics—it’s about connection. Many of our clients come to us ready for a piece that reflects who they are now, not who they were when the original ring was made. They want to honor the growth of themselves and their relationship.
Through our custom jewelry design process, we turn existing stones and heirloom pieces into jewelry that is personal, wearable, and aligned with your present life. Whether you’re reusing a family stone or upgrading a setting that no longer fits your style, a thoughtful redesign can be incredibly meaningful.
Marion’s redesign is the perfect example of how your ring can evolve with you.
The Final Ring: Warm, Sculptural, and Entirely Hers
The finished ring is joyful, playful, expressive, and grounded. It holds the heart of her original diamond while embracing a brand-new design language—proof that repurposed stones can be just as or more impactful than a newly purchased ones.
It’s modern without feeling trendy, timeless without feeling stuffy, and most importantly, Marion.
A Note to Marion
Marion, thank you for trusting us with this transformation. Your energy, positivity and excitement made the process a joy. We’re honored that your beautiful diamond now lives in a design that was created just for you.
