Josh and Taylyn drove up from Colorado Springs with a bag of old jewelry and a very clear intention: nothing would be wasted.

Between them they had heirloom gold and diamonds from multiple old pieces — rings and settings that had lived full lives but weren't being worn anymore. Rather than let them sit in a drawer, they wanted some of the metal and as many stones as we could put to use in something new. Something Taylyn would wear every day and know her family was with her. 

Starting From Scratch — Almost

We pulled every stone from the old pieces and set them aside. The gold was melted down and used as the base for the new ring — we worked with as much of the original 14k gold as possible to get a clean, strong cast. The result is a ring made almost entirely from materials that already belonged to the family, carrying the weight of that history in the most literal sense.

The Tulip Setting

At the center sits a 1.25ct oval lab-grown diamond — bright, clean, and substantial enough to hold its own in a setting with real character. The tulip setting wraps around it with curved petals set with tiny heirloom diamonds that cradle the stone from below, giving the ring a floral, vintage quality. 

Milgrain runs along the shoulders, tracing every edge with the fine beaded detail that is the hallmark of old-world craftsmanship. The heirloom diamonds — freed from their old settings — are now set into the shoulders of the band, nestled into hidden positions that catch the light from the side. They are present without competing, adding sparkle and meaning in equal measure.

The Result

The finished ring holds two generations of jewelry in one piece. The gold that once lived in other forms is now the band Taylyn wears every day. The diamonds that came from family pieces now surround a stone chosen specifically for her. It looks like something that could have come from another era — and in a way, it did.
