Seana's Witchy Heirloom Ring — Family Stones, Mountain Proposal, and a Little Dark Magic
Seana found us on Instagram and slid into our DMs with a clear vision: a witchy aesthetic, salt and pepper diamonds, and a silver-toned metal. George followed up shortly after — and what he brought to the table made this ring something truly special.
He had heirloom diamonds and old gold jewelry from his family. Instead of letting them sit in a drawer, he wanted to put them to work — turning family history into the ring he'd propose with. We scrapped the old gold for credit and got to work.
Why 10k White Gold Instead of Sterling Silver
Seana had her heart set on a silver-toned metal, and we completely understood the appeal. But when it comes to setting a precious heirloom diamond in prongs, sterling silver isn't the right choice. Sterling silver is a softer metal, and over time the prongs can wear down — putting a stone that can never be replaced at risk of being lost. That's not a trade-off worth making.
The solution was 10k white gold. With gold prices as high as they are, 10k is a smart, budget-conscious alternative that doesn't compromise on strength or appearance. Since white gold is rhodium plated regardless of karat, 10k and 14k are visually identical — both bright, cool, and silver-toned. And 10k is more than strong enough to hold a heirloom diamond safely for a lifetime. Seana got exactly the look she wanted, with the durability her stone deserved.
The Witchy Aesthetic
To create the witchy sensibility Seana loved, we flanked the heirloom center diamond with two salt and pepper diamonds on either side. Their dark, complex inclusions bring angularity and a pop of moody contrast to what would otherwise be a neutral, brilliant ring. The result is a ring with real edge — the brilliant center stone surrounded by darkness, modern and moody in equal measure.
The Result
George proposed to Seana on a hike in the mountains. She said yes. And the ring she now wears holds more than most — heirloom stones from George's family, a new modern aesthetic that is entirely hers, and the memory of a proposal in the mountains. So much meaning, care, and intention went into it that the ring almost tells the story on its own.
