The Artifex wide band, 5mm across, reimagined with white diamonds placed organically around its faceted surfaces. These are not the usual diamond band: instead of a row of stones marching along a channel, the diamonds are nestled inside the geometric facets, set asymmetrically, so the sparkle reads as hidden glimmer rather than a line of light.

You choose the diamonds, natural or lab grown, and you choose the metal, 14k or 18k yellow, white or rose gold, or platinum. The band runs $2,480 to $3,840, and the metal is the bigger lever: every 14k version sits at the bottom of that range and 18k and platinum share the top. Finish is matte, satin or polished, and since it is not a dropdown on this listing, put the one you want in the notes at checkout.

Heather can change what is set into it. Black diamonds or salt and pepper diamonds both suit this band, and she can build it at a width other than 3mm or 5mm, thinner or thicker. Both are quoted individually. On sizing, this band can be resized, but she would rather mail you a wax mold first, because a wax costs far less to mail than a finished band costs to resize, and once a ring has been resized it is final sale and cannot be returned. How are the diamonds set into a faceted band?

They sit inside the geometric facets rather than on top of a smooth surface, and they are placed asymmetrically rather than evenly spaced. That is the whole idea of the Artifex band: the structure is deliberate and the scatter is not. It is why the sparkle appears as you turn your hand instead of running as a continuous line.

How is this different from the 3mm Artifex diamond band?

Same design, more band. At 5mm the faceted surface has more room, so the stones are spread across a wider field, and it prices higher than the 3mm version. How long does it take to make?

About 4 to 6 weeks. If you ask for a wax mold to settle your size first, allow extra time on the front, because the mold has to reach you and come back before the band goes into production. Can a 5mm diamond band be resized?

Yes, this one can. Heather would still rather mail you a wax mold before the band goes into production, because a wax costs far less to mail than a finished 5mm band costs to resize. Wear the wax at home for a few days and tell us the size you settle on. There is a second reason to get it right up front: once a ring has been resized it is final sale and cannot be returned.

Can I have something other than white diamonds in it?

Yes. Heather names black diamonds and salt and pepper diamonds as strong choices on this band, because a darker stone reads clearly against the faceted metal. Those are quoted individually rather than through the dropdown, so ask before you order and she will price it.

Does the lab or natural choice change how it is made?

No. The setting work, the facets and the 5mm width are identical either way. What changes is the price: lab grown diamonds sit $480 below natural at both the 14k and the 18k and platinum tiers on this band.
