Teal Hexagon Sapphire w/Tapered Baguettes

Teal Hexagon Sapphire w/Tapered Baguettes
|by Heather Ng
My love affair with hexagon sapphires continues. This time in a gorgeous teal sapphire from Australia. Lexi's husband accidentally threw her engagement ring in a dumpster off the highway after a river trip (it's a long story), but when life gives you lemons it's time to make lemonade! She was able to design the ring of her dreams-a fairly simple design but balanced beautifully with more complex shapes. The stone itself changes colors as the sunshine hits it, appearing a beautiful rich blue, and then flashing deep emerald greens. Using sapphires for your engagement ring is a great alternative to diamonds, especially if you love color. Sapphires are a 9 on the Mohs scale (diamonds are a 10), which is the scale that signifies the hardness of a stone. Since engagement rings are worn all the time, they endure an incredible amount of abuse, it's best to choose stones that are above an 8, and if you know you are tough on your jewelry, choosing diamonds and sapphires is going to be the safest choice. Lifestyle plays a huge role in determining your metal, design and stones, you want a ring that will stand the test of time! We loved working with Lexi, congratulations darlin'!
