William’s Custom Star Fantasy Cut Sapphire

William envisioned a cornflower-blue star fantasy cut sapphire in a nature-inspired setting with diamond accents and 14k rose gold. Star fantasy cut sapphires are in high demand, with only a handful of skilled cutters in the U.S., but we were able to source a Sri Lankan oval sapphire with a Kashmir-blue hue that was exactly the right fit.

The sapphires pavilion is cut in precise facets on the underside, creating a radiant, star-like flash inside the gem. (We loved this effect on last year’s parti-sapphire commission, and it’s stunning across shapes and colors.) To support a future flush-fit wedding band, we added a low bridge beneath the center so the band can sit closer without hitting the setting.

Natural marquise and round brilliant diamonds form a refined halo—boosting sparkle and visually amplifying the center stone—while 14k rose gold warms the palette and makes the blue pop beautifully, especially on fair skin tones.
