The Design Process

Originally, I recommended our Sagitta engagement ring setting with Elyse’s grandmother’s diamond as the center. Then we unpacked her heirloom stash—different colored sapphires and rubies—and sketched concepts that wove those stones into the design. On paper, the idea was romantic; in practice, it wasn’t serving the materials or Elyse. To set each mismatched vintage stone securely, we’d need too much metal, which would visually overpower the gems. Their varying hues and inconsistent cuts also made the layout feel busy and diluted the color story.

So, we returned to the original vision: let the heirloom center stone lead, but add in a pop of her favorite color, teal blue. We kept the Sagitta silhouette and modified the center to a full bezel—sleek, protective, and perfect for Elyse’s hands-on lifestyle. The result is a handmade boho engagement ring with clean lines and pops of whimsical color down the spine—artisan bridal jewelry built for real life, where the star is the story-rich diamond she carries forward.
