StarBrite© cut Dragon Sapphire Signet Ring

Charlie fell in love with a one-of-a-kind StarBrite© cut Tanzanian dragon sapphire, cut by Brett Kosnar — one of only a few lapidists in the world licensed to use this signature cut. The sapphire, a deep purple-red that transforms under UV light to neon fuchsia, instantly captured her spirit. This was no ordinary stone — it shimmered with strength, fire, and light, perfectly echoing the woman it was meant to represent.

Charlie brought in a collection of old family jewelry — a mix of metals and diamonds, full of personal history. We carefully extracted the stones worth saving and sent the metal off to be refined for credit. Her vision began to form: a ring that brought together the birthstones of her two favorite people — a sapphire for her husband, Dennis, and an emerald for her daughter, Erin — to surround the center stone.

Her love of astrology and the cosmos inspired the idea of a star cloud or nebula, a celestial tribute built from memory. To honor both form and function, we set the center stone in a secure full bezel — strong enough for daily wear, yet elegant enough to frame the fire within the sapphire. The emerald and sapphire side stones were nestled beside it, joined by scattered star-set diamonds in various shades, from crisp white to soft grey, giving the nebula effect a sense of atmospheric depth — like clouds drifting across a night sky. A satin finish let the stones shine, while the engraving of three hearts on the inside made it deeply personal: mother, daughter, and husband — all held close.

When Erin gave the ring to Charlie — a late Mother’s Day gift, filled with intention — Charlie was ecstatic. It was more than a ring. It was a living archive of the people and memories she holds dearest, reimagined in a form she could wear every day. The emotion behind it was unmistakable: this piece didn’t just sparkle, it spoke.
