Zach first came into our store a few years ago getting some ideas for an engagement ring for Bella. At first he was drawn to Alexandrite, a unique and mysterious stone.  It changes color depending on the type of light that hits it, changing from purple to green. The next time we saw Zach he brought Bella with him (always a great idea if it's not a surprise!), Bella is an artist, and let us know what colors she was drawn to, what settings and the overall style she like in a ring. We switched to sapphire since it would be the best gemstone for their active lifestyle and for the range of colors that sapphires offer. Bella loved a purplish sapphire with a little bit of orange, which was one of the harder color combinations of sapphire to find. They came at the perfect time, right before we left for our annual trek into the desert for the Tucson gem show in early February. Tucson is THE best place for us to hunt for a gemstone, especially if it's a rarer color, cut or variety. We have access to the most gemstone vendors from all over the world. Once we knew the colors Bella loved, we spent the next three days in Tucson visiting our tried & true sapphire vendors and new companies that had sapphire in cuts we had never seen before. On the last day we found this incredible purple sapphire with a shot of orange through it. It was absolutely breathtaking, and the perfect stone for Bella. We gave it a basket setting in 14k yellow gold to allow as much light to hit the stone so all those beautiful purple hues could shine. We also made it low-profile so it wouldn't interfere with any of Bella's favorite activities.
