This is 40. It's complicated. I can't remember ever thinking what life would be like after this day. When I was little I thought it was ancient. Your oyster had long since been shucked. Whatever goals you reached defined you. Whatever career you chose was the one. Whoever you married was your soulmate. You climbed the mountain and forty was the summit. Oh how wrong I was. I wish I could have told my younger self that I would just be getting started at forty. That beyond the summit there was an entire range, with peaks and valleys as far as I can see. I finally feel there is a small amount of wisdom under these wings. A little more surrender where there was resistance. Life gets infinitely more enjoyable when you stop struggling against yourself. To the little girl that thought life ended at 40: "let the wild rumpus begin." .
